QAJIMA SUGAR CORPORATION

One of the clearest expressions of Qajima's founding philosophy is our work supporting local sugar milling communities in Negros Oriental, Philippines — a region historically underserved by modern industrial technology and in need of sustainable practices to enhance environmental sustainability.

This connection runs deeper than a single project. Back in the 1970s, the United Robina Sugar Milling Corporation (URSUMCO) sugar milling plant was built with our founders' own fathers serving as the engineers behind its construction — bringing industrial capability to a remote farming community at a time when few others would. That generational commitment to engineering in service of overlooked communities is the seed from which Qajima's philosophy grew.

Decades later, Qajima carried that legacy forward — inspired by Japan's tradition of applying advanced engineering to even the most remote and resource-constrained settings, we contributed technology and engineering expertise to upgrade the same local sugar milling production plants. This initiative enhanced efficiency, safety, and reliability, ensuring that these operations remain a lifeline for local farming communities while supporting our goal of environmental sustainability.

This is more than a CSR project — it is a continuation of a family and engineering legacy spanning two generations, reflecting the very spirit behind Qajima's name and mission: that world-class engineering, wherever it originates, should be made to reach not just the largest industrial hubs, but also the communities that need it most, including those in the oil and gas industry.
